Music For the Surge in Iraq

Updated---
With Coalition Casualties down:

The October losses totaled 38, the lowest number since March 2006.

With violent deaths down in Iraq:

(Aswat Aliraq)

And, with Iraqis returning to Baghdad in droves because the streets are now safer. Democrats may still insist that Iraq is in the midst of a civil war(?) But the truth is that the violent death rate in Iraq is now lower than in South Africa and the number of troop deaths are close to the violent deaths in Philly.
The surge is clearly working.

Somebody was right...

The Right Brothers -Music for the Rightwing Rebellion.
This song ought to start sounding better and better in the days ahead.

  2. Thanks for linking to www.malcolmxpark.org, but the violence is still not "comparable to Philly." You're comparing the murder rate of a city of 1.5 million with a population of about 140,000 soldiers. 30 philadelphians were killed in October and 40 Coalition soldiers were killed in Iraq in October. There were FAR FAR more "violent deaths" in Iraq if you include civilians and Iraqi Security Forces. Comparisons with Philadelphia have no bearing on whether the surge is working or not.

30 Philadelphians were murdered in October - population 1.5M

40 Coalition soldiers were killed in Iraq in October -- population 25 M. Even with the added civilian deaths, there's really no comparison.

Valerie, according to icasualties.org there were an estimated 672 civilian and ISF casualties in Iraq in October. (They say the estimate is low, and that seems likely, but that's another matter.) Add the dead U.S. soldiers, and it's 712. Divide by 25 million, and 1 in 35000 Iraqis (and U.S. soldiers) was killed last month. In Philadelphia, 30 people were killed out of a population of 6 million. That's 1 in 200,000. It is, according to these estimates, around 6 times more dangerous to live in Iraq than Philadelphia.
