Why demonize Iraq war contractors?

Al Gore’s former communications director, when Vice-President, sees why:
Contractors are the proxy for anti-military sentiments on the political left.

Or, The New Republic can find a fabulist, Thomas Beauchamp, husband of a TNR staffer seems enough qualification, not even up to Kerry’s low standards, to spin yarns.

  2. Somewhere, there is a line between "demonize" and "tell the truth about." The Inspector General who reviewed US reconstruction projects in Iraq found a bunch of projercts so poorly designed and built that the Iraqis refused out of hand to accept them. By the same token, privately employed security personnel have died in Iraq because of their employer's greed and stupidity.
In fairness, the IG found other projects that are well designed and built and the Irtaqis did not accept those either because they do not ewant to expend the time, effort ot money necessary to operate and maintain them. And, some private contractors for security have competently trained, equipped and supported their people.
It is equally stupid to "demonize" ALL war contractors, as to consider them all patriotic heroes. It is not stupid to expect the Defense Department and Administration in general to be able to tell the difference - and apparently they do not care enough to even try.
