A leading lawmaker of the opposition The Left (Die Linke) party here Thursday called for an "immediate stop of weapons deliveries to Zionist regime" in a bid to de-escalate the ongoing Mideast conflict.The foreign policy spokesman of the The Left party, Norman Paech (pictured) also urged the German government in a press statement to adhere to " absolute neutrality" in the Mideast.
The radical leftist MP stressed only "diplomatic initiatives" could end the violent wave in the Middle East.
A stauch supporter of Israel, Germany has become a major arms supplier of the illegal Jewish state despite a legal German ban to send arms to crisis regions.
The German government confirmed earlier this year it had sold two Dolphin-class submarines to Israel which are capable of launching nuclear warheads.
Germany had already donated three Dolphin submarines to Israel in 1999 and 2000.
German arms exports to Zionist regime reached around 900 million US dollars between 1998 and 2001.
Chancellor Angela Merkel is regarded by German political epxerts as one of the most pro-Israeli chancellors in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany which interestingly enough comes in the wake of a drastic German public opinion shift against Zionist regime, triggered by its brutal military campaigns in Lebanon and Gaza.
What I find no mention of, is that Die Linke(Translated as either the Left or the leftists) is actually an ad hoc coalition dominated by the East German remnants of the communist party.
ReplyDeleteA numerical majority of Die Linke party members(parties are much smaller in german than they are in the U.S.--hence the increased importance of party membership) were actual members of the East German Communist Party. And as all, or nearly all communist party members were Stasi informants...well, you get the picture.
The infuriating thing is that while the Germans are very prompt to ban, or at least condemn all extreme right(read Fascist)political activities...the extreme left, also with a murderous history, gets a pass; and gets into government.
In Berlin, the Bill Clintonesque Mayor, Klaus Wowereit (Wowi the Wonder Queen), has chosen twice to form governing coalitions with this bunch of jokers and war criminals, rather than with numerically viable center-right, and green partnerships.
Yet he is the most popular Social Democrat in Germany. (The main center-left party). Like I said...a disconnect.
(I would not ordinarily use such ad hominem labels for a politician's sexuality, but Wowi uses his as an integral part of his city(as opposed to national) political persona).

So, if you're German AND a Leftist, you're just going to have to abandon the orthodoxy on the question of Israel. You owe it to the 6 million who perished in YOUR ovens, and you owe it to history, which judged you far less harshly for those crimes than it should have.
