It's over for Senator Larry Craig...
It looks like the flood gates have opened- It's only a matter of time now.
Republican Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN)and Representative Peter Hoekstra (R-MI)asked Senator Larry Craig to resign today.
The AP reported:
Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota, where Craig was arrested, became the first Senate Republican to say Craig should leave office...Yesterday, Republican Senators called for an ethics investigation into the Minneapolis airport arrest of Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) over his lewd conduct arrest.
GOP Rep. Pete Hoekstra said Craig "represents the Republican party," and called for his resignation "as his conduct throughout this matter has been inappropriate for a U.S. senator."
The Seattle Times has more on the behavior that got Craig arrested.
UPDATE: Senator McCain calls for resignation.
UPDATE 2: Craig steps down from Committee assignments.
Jeff Emanuel forwarded this from RedState:
I hear that Democrats are striking their foreheads for not having thought of this sooner.Good point? or not?
They're thinking of making it a misdemeanor to be a US Senator or Member of Congress.
Then all of the Republicans will be forced to resign. The Democrats, en masse, will announce that they deeply apologize, but that the offense has no bearing on their ability to continue doing the job the American people expect them to do.
Great plan, no?
Al Sadr tells his troops to stand down. Hillary Clinton is tied to a huge campaign donation scandal. A Congressman has submitted a bill to grant admittion to a convicted illegal alien guilty of identity theft.
ReplyDeleteAnd we are still talking about Craig being charged with a class B misdemeanor of "invasion of privacy". And while the arrest might bring up questions of ethics, this Guppy Policy the Republicans seem to have adopted is beyond the pale (guppy fish eat their own).
You want perfection in a Senator? I guess you will have to wait until the Second Coming as to my knowledge, there has only been one perfect man.
Perhaps McCain would like to explain his ethics when he dumped a sick wife for a richer one? Or when he, along with John Kerry, turned his back on American POWs still left in Vietnam and Laos?
The more I hear about this the more I smell a set up. At the same time I hear a lot of stupidity from the right. Studds was reelected for thirteen years after he physically bedded an intern. If things continue this way the Republicans will all resign and liberals will be in full control of at least two branches, and working on the third.
ReplyDeleteThen we'll start to see a rapid decline in the population because no one will want kids, they'll just abort them. The people who come in to the country to replace the citizens who aren't born will belong to a religion neutral group (Mexican) or an Islamically oriented group who will vote Democratic for a while. Then they'll vote Sharia. And the libs won't be able to do a thing about it.
