Kentucky Dem Governor Jokes About Bush Assassination At State Party Dinner

Keep it classy, Democrats...
At the Kentucky Democratic Party fund-raiser in Louisville, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear joked about Vice President Dick Cheney shooting President George Bush.

Blue Grass, Red State and The Herald-Ledger reported:

Gov. Steve Beshear, who has remained neutral during the presidential primary and who will serve as a Kentucky superdelegate at the national convention in August, avoided talking about the Democratic candidates by criticizing President Bush.

"When I mention that Democrats are problem solvers, I can think of only one Republican who can be a problem solver -- that is Vice President Dick Cheney if he would just take George on a hunting trip," Beshear said. Cheney accidentally shot fellow quail hunter Harry Whittington in Texas in 2006.

  1. it's not kentucky votes that you're linking to. it's "blue grass, red state". it's an ad for kentuckyvotes.org, which is a different website.

thanks for the link up, though.

  2. Ehhh. Not that I'm the least bit sympathetic to the Dems, but I think Gov. Beshear successfully danced to the edge of decorum without making the plunge. If he had specifically advocated shooting, or the like, it would be an outrage, but he is just making the very kind of joke that Cheney has made on the same topic, aubject that has been ripe for humor since it happened.

There is much Democratic behavior to be outraged about, but this ain't it. And everyone needs to quit the whining. If a Repub had said it and the Dems then squealed like little piggies..... same thing.

Kentucky has always voted for Republican presidental candidates(and often senators); yet,its state and local bureaucracy is still part of the old, entrenched democratic "solid south" political network. Corruption is legendary among this group of generational, hack politicians. Stevie is a typical product of that legacy.

  4. Lacking true character, or even a modest sense of humor, the governor has exposed himself to be a boorish nitwit of the 1st order.

So it's OK to suggest that life would be better if Clinton and Obama went on long moonlit drives with Ted Kennedy?
