Obama's Iran Policy Freaks Out Brits & Breaks 3 UN Resolutions

Barack Obama is freaking out the Brits.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband raised questions over Obama's Iran policy while visiting with Obama campaign officials this week.
The Times Online reported:

David Miliband has raised questions over Barack Obama’s policy on Iran, which officials in Washington and Europe fear threatens to undermine the tough stance adopted by the West towards Tehran over recent years.

The Foreign Secretary, on his visit to the US this week, has held talks with all three presidential campaigns, including those of Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

But when he met Mr Obama’s team of foreign policy advisers on Wednesday, Mr Miliband is understood to have queried the presumptive Democratic nominee’s declared willingness to meet leaders from rogue states such as Iran.

They also discussed trade — with Mr Obama advisers saying that they still intended to renegotiate deals such as Nafta — and how much European support there would be for a US military surge in Afghanistan.
Barack's chats with the Iranian leadership without preconditions also breaks 3 UN Security Council resolutions.
Amir Taheri asks:

Before starting his unconditional talks with Ahmadinejad, would Obama present a new resolution at the Security Council to cancel the three that he Islamic Republic president does not like? Or, would Obama act in defiance of the UN, thus further weakening the authority of the Security Council?

The preconditions that Ahmadinejad does not like and Obama promises to ignore were not set by President George W Bush.

They were decided after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported the Islamic Republic to be in violation of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and, acting in accordance with its charter, referred the issue to the Security Council.

Dismissing the preconditions as irrelevant would mean snubbing America's European allies plus Russia and China, all of whom participated in drafting and approving the resolutions that Ahmadinejad does not like.

typical of the UN to remain silent.. guess they're busy with their interior decorators working on their $1.9 billion construction project.. imo it would be a lot cheaper & wiser to relocate them somewhere more to their liking, ie: Iran (no offense meant towards the Iranian people).. gah!!

Senator Obama hasn't clue one on how to handle foreign relations with allies, much less those that believe the world would be a better place without the United States.

So long as he's just a candidate, he can spout out whatever he wants without accountability, but were he to be elected, then he'd be forced to reconcile with the geopolitical realities of today's world. Right now he's just sitting in the peanut gallery.

    Guys,

No need to freak out. What Obama says and what he does are different things. It's something the Right is always hounding him on, yes?

Besides, what's the problem? So he potentially ignores precedents and resolutions and laws. As our current President demonstrates time and again, the Executive Branch needn't follow directives it finds unconstitutional. All it needs is gumption.

And since the next President will continue to have wartime powers, there's little you can say to stop it.

May you continue to enjoy the same kind of Presidency you've approved over the past six years. ;-)

...so you're saying that Obama, not McCain, would be closer to 4 more years of what Liberals have been screaming about?

I thought the surge in Iraq was an abject failure. Why would Obama be recommending the same thing for Afghanistan? Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

  6. you crackers seem to forget that bush 1) lied about everything prior to election 2) had no experience leading up to the election and 3) lied the whole time he was in office...

lincoln had zero experience and the vatican spends more on gold for the castle than it does on starving children...

    so...what's your point?

the flow has a lot more to do with public perception than you think-and a lot less to do with the figurehead than many would hope (unless of course obama can break the record set by G.W. for writing the most executive orders in history)...

republicans are liberals and democrats are slightly less liberal-republicans have been outspending democrats for almost 30 years now...there's no such thing as conservatism in America-don't you goons know what you're talking about?

  8. Parker;
the only lies were the fudged cut-and-paste misquotes foisted on the public. Not only were there no lies, there were damn few mistakes. As subsequent document discovery is increasingly demonstrating. But you'll be careful not to notice any of that.

The terrorist monkey can not be negotiated with. The only reason to maybe talk to Ahmadamadmonkey in say maybe Switzerland is to provoke him by debating his ideology and criticizing his hatred. Force him to say lots of stupid and insane things which would be widely publicized thus educating more people to his ideology's insanity. This, I am quite sure, Obama would never do.

Ouch, Obama and the poor little Dems were hit a little too close to home by what GW said. It's one of the best things Bush has ever said. Bravo! And he didn't even have to mention the Dhimmicrats or any body's name.

So sure, then he folded in Saudi Arabia, but what he said in Israel almost makes that OK.
