In May 2006 antiwar Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) also announced that there was a grand coverup to to stifle the story:

In this interview (Video HERE) of antiwar Democrat John Murtha with ABC, after his original accusations:
MURTHA: This is what the Marine Corps told me at the highest level. The Commandant of the Marine Corps was in my office just last week, so you know. I know there was a cover-up someplace. They knew about this a few days afterwards and there’s no question the chain of command tried to stifle the story. I can understand why, but that doesn’t excuse it. Something like this has to be brought out to the public, and the people have to be punished.1st Lt. Andrew Grayson was found not guilty on all charges that he tried to help cover up the killings of 24 Iraqis.
Antiwar Democrat John Murtha was wrong about the "cold-blooded" killings.
And... Murtha was wrong about the coverup, too.

ReplyDeleteI do wish you would stop using terms like anti-war. You are in the propaganda business. Every intelligent person is against war. Call these people what they are: anti-peace; anti-progress; anti-liberation; anti-Iraqi;, anti-American; anti-defense; pro-defeat. Loons.
He wasn't just wrong: he was unethical.
ReplyDeleteIt is unethical to use your position in the public eye to get attention by harming someone else. It violates our notions of fair play for a person in high public office to accuse a vulnerable employee of our government of a crime in advance of trial.
John Murtha has breached his duty toward these people, and he be required to do what he can to right the situation. Money won't fix everything, but it is a start. He owes these men his estate. His heirs can start from zero.

Anonymous says that every intelligent person is anti-war. That is like saying every intelligent person is anti-gun. War is a tool. It is good or bad depending on how it is used. It makes much more sense to call oneself pro-war, which, like being pro-gun, means being for using war when called for. The anti-war idiots are just that: they are against war, whether or not it is appropriate, the same way they are anti-gun. Jim is using the correct terms.
ReplyDeleteI support this war. But you are wrong Alec. Jim's terminology will convince no one to support this war, who is reflexively anti-war, as most people are.
ReplyDeleteYou are a good example of why the war supporters have lost the propaganda battle for a necessary and won war.
