This year there will be a group of pro-military veterans to counter the outrageous attacks by the Left against our troops.

Here's their first ad... It's terrific!

Awesome! Pro-military, Pro-Victory veterans group Vets For Freedom is launching their campaign to take on the antiwar thugs at MoveOn.org.
FOX News reported:

A veterans’ group that sharply criticized Barack Obama is planning a multimillion-dollar ad campaign, which it hopes will counter the anti-war message of MoveOn.org in the run-up to the general election.

The group, Vets for Freedom, plans to launch its four-month campaign next week, called “Four Months, for Victory.”

Chairman Pete Hegseth said the group’s first ad buy will not mention either Obama or John McCain. He said the group has not endorsed anybody in the presidential race.
But Vets for Freedom, made up of veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, considers McCain a key ally and could provide the Republican presidential candidate with a boost, simply by espousing the kind of stay-the-course strategy he has advocated. The 25,000-member group is a firm proponent of the troop buildup in Iraq.

Hegseth, in an interview with FOXNews.com, said he hopes to outmatch the message coming out of MoveOn.org — which has endorsed Obama and is already running ads accusing McCain of wanting to wage a near-endless war in Iraq.

“We would love to counter their message. I think the American people would rather hear from those who served than those who... call our generals traitors,” Hegseth said. “We need to ensure that we capitalize on the successful efforts (in Iraq) and ultimately do what we can to finish the job and get our troops back with honor.”

He said the first ad buy, which would run for two weeks, will cost about $1.5 million. He noted that that is more than the $500,000 MoveOn.org spent on their most recent ad, which was scheduled to run one week.

  3. Nice ad. I understand the desire of men and women who gave so much to see 'success' in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Still, the issue is much, much larger than this. Their voices and opinions definately deserve to be heard and respected.

Whether or not the USA should continue to invest our time, money and army in these wars can't be based on desire for 'victory' alone.

Some balance of the costs and benefits must take place. I believe the greatest failing of the proponents of the war is to clearly articulate exactly what we will gain by 'winning'.

It is clear what Iraq will gain. But no so clear what the USA will gain. Will Iraq pay us back the trillions we've spent? No, they won't.

As a taxpayer the $10 TRILLION dollar debt of the USA is a major concern. The USA is paying to fix Iraq with borrowed money, the effect of borrowing is inflation and the decline in the value of the dollar.

Is it worth it? Ads from heroic American soldiers saying "we are winning" do not address these basic issues, no matter how much they tug at our heartstrings.

Actually, the proponents of the war have clearly articulated the benefits of winning. They've done so over and over, but the current cute fad is to insist that they haven't.

This is the "debating" technique of the anti-war faction: blanket denial and lying. We still hear that the Iraqis have made no political progress, for example, or that Iraq is in a civil war.

I'm sure if you tried really really hard, you could articulate the benefits of a stable, pro-American Iraq. But to do so you'd have to be a serious thinker, and I have yet to come across a serious thinker who doesn't understand why we must win in Iraq.

You expose your bias and lack of seriousness by putting scare quotes around the word "winning."

Contrary to another cute fad, the definition of victory in Iraq is very straightforward and easy to understand.

I'll let you try and figure it out.

    Spoken like a dedicated but short-sighted bean-counter.

You fail to take into consideration the millions that will be made by American construction and oil companies that are there rebuilding Iraqi infrastructure (not to mention the European and Asian investments). Iraq will not pay us back for our efforts in interest loans. They will repay us in security, by being an American-friendly government (possibly even an Arab democracy, imagine that) in the heart of the Middle East, securing an oil supply until we can make the transition to alternative energy sources - at which time Iraq will be enough of a capitalist economy to make the same transition and expand to other avenues of capital. Not everything beneficial can be immediately reduced to dollars and cents.

Good to see those out there challenging the reprehensible Moveon.org and their distain for the military. If this group vanished, the world would be a better place.

I've been saying this for years, it takes time to turn a country from a dictatorship to a free self-run government. If you cut it short, then the efforts and sacrifices of those who went there to make it happen are for nothing. I'm glad people are speaking against the socialistic naysayers. Great ad, I appreciate the personal involvement by the speakers. I'd hate to see people sacrifice so much and have someone make it worthless.

The truth is that Iraq was NEVER a threat to us. The terrorists who attacked us DID NOT operate in Iraq. We invaded this country to gain access to the world's second largest oil reserve. Just recently the Iraqi gov. announced it is opening its oil fields to our oil companies. It is shameful to think we wasted 100's of BILLIONS of Dollars and 4100+ lives in order to allow Exxon to make billioins.
