The father of Iraqi War hero Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder wept in court today describing the pain that Westboro church members put him through at his son's funeral.
The Baltimore Sun reported:
The father of a young Westminster man killed in Iraq wept repeatedly in Baltimore federal court this morning as a jury watched video images of how members of a Kansas church picketed the Marine's funeral to protest the military's inclusion of homosexuals.
The weeklong civil trial in U.S. District Court has pitted a grieving father of a 20-year-old Marine against members of the Westboro Baptist Church, who Albert Snyder says exacerbated his pain and suffering by protesting at his son's funeral with anti-gay slogans. Jury deliberations could begin as early as this afternoon.
Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder, a 2003 Westminster High School graduate, died in early March 2006 in a vehicle accident in Anbar province. He had been in Iraq less than a month.

Rest in peace, Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder.

Family Sues Westboro Devils For Picketing Marine Son's Funeral
Explain this to me...everything that is mainstream Christian...including saying Merry Christmas,is being removed from the public square, yet this crazy~ sick~ group has constitutional rights to picket at heroes funerals???
ReplyDeleteThe world is a crazy bizarre place.
I pray that this young mans family gets a huge settlement and gets this group to stop.
Can you imagine the horror of having to bury your young son only to be confronted by lunatics? Can you imagine never being able to grieve due to the law suit that followed?
ReplyDeleteMy heart, and my prayers, go out to this family. They should have never had to endure such behavior.
But you see, the creeping socialism that is being pushed on us by the left cannot stand the fact that there are those who believe in a power higher than the state (state, as in federal government).
Jim, I'm so glad that you too call the Westboro group a cult like I do. They are not a church. And I hope this father bankrupts Phelps and his cult so that they are unable to continue their sick, evil attacks against anyone else.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard of this story on the news I thought how can anyone calling themselves "Christians" do such a hurtful thing at a families time of great loss and sorrow. With all the needs in the world they choose to spend their time and money to create even more grief and sorrow for others. I for one am glad that this family has won the loss suit against this church to teach this ungodly group that Americans are not putting up with this type of behavior.
ReplyDeleteThe type of callous lack of feeling that this supposed church displays in picketing funerals of any type is unforgivable. My father once told me to be careful what I decided God thought. God might not agree. And He isn't someone we want to anger now, is He? My apologies to all the families that have been injured in this way. This is unforgivable.
ReplyDeletethis is a very sick thing to do. god isnt the head of this church the ego mainiac preacher is and by the way i leave 4 basic jul 7 semper fi and my prayers are out to that poor family.
