It amazes me that the nuts can fear Bush as someone that wants a theocracy and still embrace the crazies that openly state that theocracy is their ultimate goal.

ReplyDeleteIt shouldn't be any surprise to you if you look at them in a historical context.
The nutroots are very much like their intellectual forefathers in the US, Europe and Britain 70 years ago. They are not "peace lovers". They are not "anti-war". They are just ardent supporters of the other side.
Let's review some of their actions and beliefs from the 1930's and 40's...
-They loved Hitler.
-They loved Stalin.
-They thought that Chamberlain's policies of appeasement was the correct policy to take.
-They hated Churchill and called him a "drunken, imperialist warmonger" for warning that Hitler needed to be stopped before the only way he could be stopped was with a large scale war.
-They did everything they could to tie FDR's hands concerning Hitler and Stalin. Most people do not know that there were massive "peace demonstrations" leading up to and during WWII in the US. They even had their own versions of Momma Moonbat. These "peace demonstrations" were (in large part) organized by the US Communist party and the German-American Bund just like the ones today are being organized by North Korean loving communist fronts like UPJ.
-They thought both had done "wonderful things" for their countries.
-The thought that both Germany and Russia had the "right" to do pretty much as they pleased because they had been "oppressed" by the "imperialists".
-They thought that Hitler's policy on the Jews was totally correct.
-They thought that fascism and communism were wonderful political systems.
-They thought that "the masses" were too stupid to make decisions about who should govern thus detested democracy. They thought that they were the only ones who should be allowed to decide who ruled because they were "more intelligent" then everyone else.
-Hollywood was largely very anti war and pro isolationism. That is until Hitler invaded the Soviet Union.
-Their London counterparts were totally against war in any form. That is until the bombs started falling on London. Then they all of a sudden got the clue that Hitler might not be such a wonderful person after all.
Obviously, that whole cognitive dissonance thing must be bogus...otherwise, their heads would explode.

ReplyDeleteDr. Sanity has some great posts discussing the psychological problems of the nutroots and their LLL fellow travelers. Understanding their psychological debilities is helpful in understanding their illogical statements and behaviors.
The nutroots disagree with nutjob, because they think the GWOT is a bumper sticker. Fools are fools, and nutjob loves their usefulness.
ReplyDeletenahanni, not to pick a point but Hollywood then and Hollywood now are two different animals. The minority at that time were against the war and the majority worked for the USO et al. Other than that your assessment was what I picked up from my parents and others in the Marine Corps.

ReplyDeleteYou are wrong. It was the minority who chose to. The rest were ordered to by the studios who they were contracted to. At that time the studios had the power to order them to do so.
If they had a choice they would have not done so and in fact would have acted as stupidly as Sean Penn and his ilk do today.
